Retire On Rentals was formed for the purpose of helping others acquire affordable real estate and reaching their financial freedom through rental property.Over the course of the past ten years the founders of Retire On Rentals have acquired, managed and sold various types of property in seven different states. Our variety of experience includes apartment communities, multi-family units, land parcels, commercial space and of course single family homes.

 Sky Mikesell: CEO & Founder |
Sky founded Retire on Rentals in 2005 alongside his wife Kim. He is currently responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business, and focuses his efforts primarily on investor relations, sales and business development.
Over the past 12 years Sky has participated in all areas of the real estate industry. He was a realtor in the State of Oregon for two years, acted as on-site property manager, owned a property management company, and worked as a loan officer. During that time he was investing personally and has been a full time investor for the past 7 years. Sky has participated in over 500 real estate transactions, including all types of property, rehabbing, lease options, owner finance deals, buying and selling notes, and short sales. Sky’s primary focus is in single family homes.
In his free time he enjoys kayaking, working out, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.
Sky is committed to building a business that is focused on helping investors develop a portfolio of investment properties that will help them work towards their goals of financial freedom or retirement.

Kim Mikesell: Vice President |
Kim is the co-founder of Retire on Rentals and has assisted Sky in running the business since its inception in 2005. Kim is currently working within the business on a part time basis due to the birth of their daughter in September of 2008. Kim oversees the property management business, and assists in project management and quality control.
After earning a bachelor’s degree from Western Oregon State University, Kim spent seven years as a first grade teacher. While teaching, Kim started investing in real estate to assist in paying off her student loans. Kim has owned rental properties in 3 different states and has overseen the completion of 150 renovation projects. Kim has also leased over 200 rental units. Kim is a perfectionist who strives to assure that tenants and owners are satisfied with the product that Retire on Rentals produces.
In her limited amount of free time as a new mom, Kim enjoys traveling with her husband, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.

 Tracey Acquisitions & Sales Transactions

Tracey has been a great addition to the team at Retire on Rentals.
Tracey has been involved in 276 real estate transactions which ensures she is an expert in the process and allows her to assist her clients to the best of her ability. She brings alot of energy and focus as a contributor to the team which shows in her work here making sure each client has a clear understanding of how the investment purchase process works. In her free time, Tracey enjoys spending time with her Dalmation Jordan, her two nieces and volunteering at the Humane Society of Charlotte.
Tracey is a native to North Carolina and has the accent to prove it. She has lived in the great city of Charlotte for 14 years and has been in working in the real estate market for over the past 12 years, assisting buyers, sellers and investors finding properties to suit their needs. Tracey has been involved in 276 real estate transactions which ensures she is an expert in the process and allows her to assist her clients to the best of her ability.

 Renovation Team

In 2006, The Retire on Rentals Renovation Team was formed to assure a quality product that would meet the investment needs of our Retire on Rental clients. Our team of employees include professionals in each of the essential fields of renovations. (from top row, right to left) We have Bob Clayton as our Job Superintendent, responsible for quality control and effective time management. Dave is a master carpenter with 12 years of experience in the field. Joe is our electrician with extensive experience in the upkeep and upgrade of existing construction. Mike just joined us at the beginning of 2009 after selling the plumbing company he owned and comes to us with carpentry skills as well. (bottom row from right to left Papi & Luis recently came to us to assist in painting and turnover and lastly Ray is a subcontractor relationship handling all of our hvac needs from installation to service and repair work.
Our team is an extremely hard working focused group of professionals who strive to complete the projects in a timely manner while maintaining a quality that is exceptional in relation to other rental properties. This same group of Tradesmen are also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance associated with the normal wear and tear that goes alongside owning rental properties. Since they are part of our full time staff, we are able to offer their services to our management clients far below the standards set within the maintenance industry.
As with the entire group associated with Retire on Rentals, our renovation team is dedicated to a high standard of customer satisfaction for our residents as well as each individual property owner.

 Halah Investor Relations
|
With the increasing demand for investment property and a dramatic increase in clients Halah joined our team as investor relations.
While Halah attended UNC Charlotte working towards her degree in Management information systems(mis) and spanish she became interested in real estate. She read ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad,’ which forever changed the course of her life. Wealth and how people became wealthy fascinated her. She successfully channeled that curiousity into focus. She started acquiring real estate the year she graduated from college. By the time she was 28 she had 3 rental properties and invested passively out of state into a development project. (which she will not tell you she regrets, oh well we all learn.)
From 2006 to 2008 she worked as a realtor selling to home owners. In 2008 she moved over into full time investment property sales selling vacant property needing renovations in the Philadelphia market. Realizing there was a large sector of investors looking for investments with out so much risk she found Retire On Rentals. We brought her on as investor relations where she is now utilizing her experience and understanding of investment property to assist investors wanting to buy low risk turn key investment property.
In her free time she enjoys excellent restaurants and time well spent with her family and friends.

Jennifer Property Management
|
Jennifer joined the team in June 2008. She is responsible for all of our current residents as well as correspondence with our Retire on Rentals owners. Jennifer has a gift with her personable demeanor, and is a professional when it comes to dealing with any property management situation whether it be a maintenance item or rent collection. Jennifer has a great way of satisfying her residents and yet staying focused on the best interest of the owners.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Strathclyde, Jennifer moved to North Carolina in 2007 to join her family who moved here from Scotland three and a half years ago. After graduating she worked in the real estate business in Scotland and upon arrival to the states she completed her NC real estate licensing course and exam.
In her free time Jennifer enjoys traveling, good food, reading, walking, spending time with friends and family and meeting new people.
As our Customer Service Specialist Jennifer maintains a professional level of respect and kindness for the tenants and the owners. Her main priority is to make sure the prospective residents choose a place that suits their needs and are therefore able to live comfortably and stay for a very long time ensuring a quality investment for the owners. Jennifer is aware that the way a property is managed today, will determine its value for tomorrow.

 Steve Property Management |
Steve joined the team in October of 2009 as business operations and property manager. Steve earned his Bachelor/s Degree from Michigan State University in Packaging Engineering 2001 and worked as an engineer for several tier 1 suppliers to Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors. As a lifelong resident of Michigan, Steve moved to North Carolina in 2007 for a position as a Quality Engineer with Carrier Corporation.
Steve has brought the qualities and skills of his engineering background to our company. He is organized, ambitious, and focused. His role is to assist in the overall operations and performance of the investment properties we manage for our clients.
In his free time Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs....He enjoys hiking, traveling, and good food.
